Frequently Asked Questions

Why get a 3-year tourist visa over others?

The 3-year tourist visa for Russia is the most versatile and easiest to apply for. You can stay up to 6 months per stay with no limited time to stay outside of Russia before visiting again. It allows you to stay in Russia for essentially up to 3 years!

This visa can be used for anything except work or study as long as the main purpose of your first trip is tourism. You can travel, visit friends, open a bank account, open a business, etc on this type of visa.

A big advantage is that you can take advantage of last minute travel plans to Russia and not worry about whether you will make the trip waiting for a visa.

What documents do you need from me?

We only need a signed visa application and your original passport. We handle all the other paperwork. The Russian consulate issues a visa on one of the pages in your passport.

How fast can I get a Russian visa?

You can choose a processing time of 11 business days or 15 business days not including transit time. DHL Express and other couriers take on average 1-2 days to deliver TO our office in Bonn, Germany and 1-2 days to return your documents to you after the visa is issued, depending on where you are.

With shipping time, you have your passport and Russian visa back in your hands within 3 weeks.

Under some circumstances, we can expedite your request. Just reach out to us in rush situations.

Where is your office located?

We process Russian visas in Houston, Texas at the Russian consulate near our office.
We also process Russian visas in Bonn, Germany for US passport holders living outside the United States or any residents of Germany.

How do I send my documents to Let's Russia?

When you order our visa service, you'll choose a shipping option based on your location. Most locations allow courier pickup right from your home or office and we have your documents in hand within 1-2 days.

Once you have your documents ready to send out, you'll get a shipping label from us via email. You use that to ship off your documents safely and securely.

We use DHL, UPS or Fedex depending on your location.

How much are the Russian consulate fees?

Russian consulate fees for US passport holders are INCLUDED in our No-Hassle service above. They vary based on citizenship. For US passport holders the fee is $198 for any type of visa. That's why we recommend applying for a multi-entry visa for up to 3 years.

Can I really get a Russian visa from anywhere?

Practially from anywhere! We've helped our customers apply from all over Europe including Germany, Sweden, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, the UK and Serbia.

We've also assisted many customers who were based in Turkey, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, China and Thailand. The list will only continue to grow!

The only country that doesn't allow people to send passports abroad that we know of is Ukraine.

Can I travel without my passport?

You can travel around the country you're staying in without a passport, but in order to cross international borders into another country, you will need your passport.

So, you are limited to your local area or country while you're waiting for your Russian visa to be processed and returned.

If you're in the EU or UK, for example, you can travel around to different countries as long as you don't need to cross any international borders.

Is it safe for me to be without my passport?

We understand many people are hesitant to be without a passport. However, a Russian consulate will not issue a Russian visa without your original passport. The visa needs to be inserted inside of your passport.

We only work with reliable couriers like DHL, Fedex and UPS that allow us to track documents whenever, wherever.

We recommend that you have another form of photo identification on hand such as a driver's license and make copies of your passport.

The best possible scenario is that you have two valid US passports. This is possible. Just reach out to your local US embassy or consulate and insist that you need a second US passport while traveling abroad for times when you need to apply for visas AND still travel. A number of our customers have done this.

Can I travel to Germany to get a Russian visa?

Of course! You can send your documents from wherever you are or travel to Germany to get a Russian visa.

We're happy to work with you to find an option that suits your needs.

Will I need a tourist invitation letter?

Yes. A Russian visa is granted on the basis of an invitation letter. It is required if you don't have your own. We do provide tourist and business invitation letters.

What's the difference between the services listed above?

The No-Hassle service requires minimal effort from you. We prepare and process the documents, submit them at the consulate, pick up your passport and visa and deliver back to wherever you are.

Our Tourist Invitation + Document Preparation service gets you a tourist invitation letter, completed visa application with accuracy and instructions on how to apply at a Russian consulate near you. You just need to prepare your passport and a passport photo.

NOTE: Some Russian consulates do not allow you to apply for a 3 year visa. You need to first confirm that they do and then we prepare your documents. For example, Turkey and UAE do not allow Americans to apply for a Russian visa without residency in said country. You'll likely waste lots of time trying to figure out how to apply for a 3-year Russian visa yourself.
